Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Preliminary information says the driver of a van who ran a red light is responsible for an early morning two vehicle accident. Transit officers were called to the scene at 3:00 a.m. where they located one overturned vehicle.
The truck, found laying on its roof, was allegedly hit by the driver of a van who ran a red light at the intersection of Chemuyil Avenue and CTM. The speeding van driver slammed into the small cargo truck rolling it through the intersection.
Two people on a motorcycle who witnessed the accident stopped to help the people inside the rolled vehicle. Neither were reported seriously hurt. An ambulance was called. Paramedics evaluated both people, neither of whom required a hospital transfer.
The driver of the van fled the scene. Playa del Carmen police are searching for the person responsible for the accident.
