Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Police have arrested a suspect in the early morning shooting of a Playa del Carmen taxi driver. The 30 year old driver was shot to death inside his cab around 2:00 a.m. Wednesday.
He was parked outside a club in the Ejido neighborhood when his car was fired upon repeatedly. Bullet holes riddled the outside of his vehicle, leaving him dead inside. A second taxi driver was injured by a stray bullet.
Police were at the scene of the shooting on Juarez Avenue and Playa del Carmen Boulevard in the middle of the night after receiving reports. Dead is Erick “N”, 30. He was found shot four times, at least twice about the head.
A second taxi driver identified as 30 year old Ángel “N” from Chetumal was injured by a stray bullet. He was transferred to hospital by ambulance and treated for injuries considered not serious.

Elements of the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) of Solidaridad began a search for the gunman, ending the night with the arrest of a suspect. Police have not yet identified the man taken into custody.
