Mahahual, Q.R. — Patrolling officers arrested a heavily armed man in the quiet seaside town of Mahahual. Authorities made the arrest Monday after the man was found in possession of narcotics and several weapons.
Officers from the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) and the Secretariat of the Navy arrested Luis “N” after observing him handling bags of drugs.
When he noticed police, he tossed the bags into a pickup he attempted to board in order to flee the area, however, he was intercepted before he had a chance to drive off.
In a statement, the SSC (Secretaría de Seguridad Ciudadana) said Luis “N” was found in possession of what they believed to be marijuana and powdered cocaine.
“Upon noticing the approaching units, the man placed the bags into a small shoulder bag and tossed it into a pickup truck, which he then attempted to start in order to flee the scene,” they reported.
“During the inspection of the vehicle, they discovered a female who stated that she was a minor.”
During the search, police also reported locating an arsenal of firearms that included a sawed-off AK-47-style firearm (7.62 × 39 mm caliber), an X15-model firearm, a firearm with a black metal barrel, a gray .22-caliber revolver, 14 magazines, 264 rounds of ammunition of various calibers, two black tactical vests, and a gray Ford F-150 pickup truck bearing license plates from the state of Morelos.
Due to her age, the minor located in the pickup at the time of the police inspection has not been named, however, both are facing drug and weapon-related charges.
