Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Police responding to the report of a bagged body arrived to verify the finding near Punta Maroma. On Wednesday evening, a motorist heading toward Playa del Carmen called Emergency 911 saying they had seen, what was believed to be, a bagged human body on the side of the highway.
Authorities responding to that 6:20 p.m. call did locate the body of an adult person inside a white sack. The body was found in greenery along the shoulder of the Playa del Carmen-Puerto Morelos highway near Punta Maroma.
Police found the person inside, an adult male, had been executed. Near the body was a drug message that said “this is what happens when you steal”. Municipal and state officials had the area cordoned off while evidence was collected.
