Passenger rushed to hospital after combi hits parked trailer along Costa Maya roadway

Costa Maya, Q.R. — A passenger riding in a collectivo was rushed to hospital Thursday night after the public transport vehicle collided with a parked trailer. The accident was reported along the Felipe Carrillo Puerto Costa Maya section of highway where a General Francisco May Union combi was traveling.

The driver of the unit was heading for Felipe Carrillo Puerto when he came upon a trailer carrying a load of bricks. When he noticed the unit was parked and not moving, he attempted to avoid it with a sharp turn of his steering wheel.

While he was successful in not making front-end contact with the rear of the trailer, the back of his van hit the unit, partially severing the arm of one of his passengers. The man was taken to hospital where doctors attempted to save his right arm. One other passenger, a woman, was also injured in the accident.
