Pair tracked down and arrested for manipulating Playa del Carmen ATM slot

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Two men were tracked down and arrested after being reported for manipulating an ATM slot. The pair were located and taken into custody by Transit Police Tuesday.

Police began a search for the two Mexico City natives after a citizen told police they were seen trying to install a wooden plate in the money slot of an ATM. Police began a search for their motorcycle, locating them on Avenida Andrés Quintana Roo and Avenida 55.

Luis “N”, 38 and Misael “N” 28, both from Mexico City, remain in Solidaridad police custody. In a statement, the SSC (Seguridad Ciudadana Solidaridad) said “two subjects accused of manipulating an ATM by placing a wooden plate in a slot were arrested by Municipal Transit after a search operation.

“While police were driving on Avenida 50 Norte in the El Pedregal neighborhood, Transit officers attended to a citizen who asked for help and told them that two men had manipulated an ATM and then fled on a motorcycle..

“So an operation was activated that resulted in the arrest of Luis “N” aged 38 and Misael “N” aged 28, both from Mexico City, after catching up with them and blocking their way on Avenida Andrés Quintana Roo and Avenida 55.

“When checking the ATM, the officers found a black wooden plate in a slot. The detainees had a bag and a container with glue in their possession. They were placed at the disposal of the State Attorney General’s Office for the corresponding investigations.”
