Holbox, Q.R. — After failed attempts to use fire extinguishers, owners watched as two golf carts burned. The fire happened around 11:00 a.m. Sunday when one reportedly began to smolder due to a wiring issue.
The smolder turned to flames, eventually burning two carts and part of a building.
The Holbox fire department were unable to help due to a lack of personnel. The owners of the golf carts were forced to use fire extinguishers to put out the two fires which began to spread to the building they were parked in front of.
Part of a wood railing near the burning golf carts also caught fire. The golf carts were used to provide island taxi services. There were no injuries reported.
