Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Two men passing themselves off as active police officers were arrested by city officers Thursday. The pair were stopped by city police for reckless driving and failing to respect traffic regulations.
They were pulled over in their BMW 590i along the federal highway outside Playa del Carmen. Once stopped, both men identified themselves as active police officers.
A quick run through the national system found that neither 32-year old Saul N from the state of Tamaulipas nor 42-year-old Cesar N from the State of Mexico were actually active officers.
Both were arrested by active Playa del Carmen officers and jailed Thursday morning for usurpation of official functions.
