Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Two men arrested for business extortion in Playa del Carmen have been formally charged. On Friday, Óscar Montes de Oca, head of the Attorney General’s Office of Quintana Roo, reported on the charges.
He says that both Ruyeri “V” and Concepción “A” have been charged with the crime of extortion. In his statement, he reported that “the defendants allegedly belong to a criminal group and demanded money for “floor rights” from those in charge of a real estate construction site located in the Canoras subdivision of the municipality of Solidaridad.”
“Those now charged entered the construction site armed with a firearm, threatening the victims to give them envelopes with money. After agreeing, the subjects left the place and construction staff requested support from police, for which a search and pursuit was carried out.”
