Cancun, Q.R. — More than 14 million air passengers have been recorded at Cancun International already this year. According to Governor Mara Lezama, over 2.6 million of those travelers arrived during the month of May.
She says the arrival of the 14 million in the first five months of the year “allows us to predict an extraordinary summer vacation season.” She reported that the 2.6 million in May is a 6.6 percent increase over the same month of 2022.
Governor Lezama said that the promotion of all the state’s tourist destinations, in the north and in the south with a diversity of products that complement each other, is what is drawing visitors.
“The natural beauties, culture and history of Quintana Roo continue to attract more visitors from around the world. In just five months, more than 14 million passengers have been mobilized at the Cancun International Airport, generating an extraordinary forecast for the summer season,” said Mara Lezama.
Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste (ASUR), the managing company for the Cancun International Airport, announced that in May alone, passenger traffic at the Cancun airport was 2,626,821, which represents 6.6 percent higher volume than the same month in 2022.
