Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Three people were left injured after a two-car highway collision in Playa del Carmen. The accident happened near the city’s northern federal police filter on Friday. Reports say the driver of one of the vehicles lost control and crashed into the median, which sent her car into the oncoming lane.
The out-of-control car then slammed into an oncoming vehicle, both of which, were traveling at highway speed. Firemen were called in to remove those from inside both vehicles since they were trapped by the crumpled metal.
The drivers of both vehicles along one passenger were attended to by paramedics before being transferred to hospital.
Both lanes were closed to traffic for more than an hour while police dealt with the metal mess. Both cars involved were deemed complete write offs.
