Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Playa del Carmen police managed to arrest at least one person over the weekend after a chase due to a convenience store robbery.
A convenience store was robbed by armed subjects in the Playa del Carmen subdivision of Bosque Real. The 4:00 a.m. robbery was reported to emergency services, who responded also learning that the cashier had been removed from the store and forced inside the getaway vehicle.
The quick response by police allowed them to hone in on the white van, cornering it, which lead to an exchange of gunfire. Numerous shots were exchanged between police, elements of the National Guard and the armed subjects from inside the van.
At least one person was arrested. There were no details on the status of the cashier or any other subjects involved in the robbery.
