Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A highway accident on Tuesday has claimed the life of one man. Preliminary reports say speeding was a factor in the accident that left two others injured. The fatal crash happened near the Paamul Hotel, south of Playa del Carmen.
The truck was heading in the direction of Puerto Aventuras just after 1:00 p.m. when the driver lost control and slammed into a roadside mound of dirt. Of the three people inside the crumpled unit, one was killed. He was found laying on the road outside the vehicle by responding paramedics.
The other two were rushed to hospital with undetermined injuries. All three men were construction workers. The vehicle was completely destroyed in the crash. A tow truck was eventually called in to remove it from the roadway. The deceased man has not been identified.
