Bacalar, Q.R. — One person died as the result of a two vehicle accident on the Bacalar-Xulhá highway Saturday. The driver of a motorcycle was killed after slamming into the back of a parked truck.
According to preliminary reports, the driver of a pickup was parked on the shoulder when a motorcycle crashed into the back of the truck. The strong impact threw the driver and his passenger to the pavement.
While laying on the highway, the driver was run over by a passing vehicle. Police did not say if that person died from the impact or from being run over. The second person was seriously injured.
Traffic was suspended for nearly two hours while authorities dealt with the accident.
