Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A two vehicle collision along the Tintal-Playa del Carmen stretch of roadway has left one dead and 15 injured.
The accident happened around 5:00 p.m. Saturday when two vehicles heading toward Playa del Carmen collided after a car attempted to pass a passenger van. The driver of the van lost control and left the highway.
Highway motorists stopped to help those trapped inside the van. Ambulances arrived to transport the injured to various hospitals for medical care. Preliminary reports say the two occupants of the car received only minor bruising. The van was apparently returning to Playa del Carmen with tourists from recreational activities in the Maya Zone.
