Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Three people were transferred to hospital with injuries after a Wednesday night shooting in central Playa del Carmen. The FGE of Quintana Roo reported on the injuries of the three nightclub employees and the arrest of one male.
In a news briefing, local authorities say one man was taken into police custody after a shooting inside the 12th Street nightclub. SSP Solidaridad said “police of the Municipal Solidaridad located and secured a subject for the possible crime of attempted homicide due to the events that occurred in a bar located on 12th Street with First Avenue. Two firearms were also secured.”
The shooting was reported on Wednesday night, activating the city’s Red Code after the report of gunfire in the Mandala Playa del Carmen nightclub. Using city C5 surveillance, police began a search for the shooter.
Ángel “N” was found attempting to hide on the beach. Upon his arrest, he was found in possession of two firearms. Authorities have not released a public statement or provided a possible motive for the shooting. They have also not said if the arrested gunman acted alone.
