Officers at Merida International arrest a man found with cash strapped to his ankles

Merida, Yucatan — A man found carrying a substantial amount of cash was arrested in Merida. During an x-ray inspection at the Merida International Airport, officers located the man who had secured some of the cash to his ankles. The balance of the undisclosed money was found in a backpack.

Elements of the National Guard detained the male passenger who was found carrying 450,000 Mexican peso attached to his ankles and in his backpack. He also carried in his luggage a luxury watch and a box of gun ammunition.

The man was found at the Passenger Inspection Point of the airport, while trying to board a commercial flight to Mexico City.
