Oaxaca man caught robbing Playa del Carmen home detained after neighborhood chase

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Police apprehended a Oaxaca man after he was caught robbing a Playa del Carmen home. The robbery was reported Wednesday when the owner of the home arrived to find a man inside stealing random belongings.

Municipal Police responded to the call, “arresting a subject for the possible crime of robbery in the Quinta del Carmen subdivision,” the SSP reported in a statement.

“Preventive police received a report to the 9-1-1 emergency number of a subject who entered a home stealing clothing and personal accessories,” the Seguridad Pública Solidaridad (SSP) said.

Upon arriving at the indicated location on 20th Avenue and 24th Street, a group of area residents pointed out the subject who they said was running from the scene, but they caught up with him and secured him.

Solidaridad police proceeded to arrest 41-year-old Javier “N” from Oaxaca after he was positively identified by the homeowner. “The detainee was transferred to the police department and subsequently placed at the disposal of the State Attorney General’s Office for the corresponding legal procedures.”
