In a statement, the company said “in conjunction with our third return to sail announcement, we have extended our voluntary temporary suspension for eight of our seventeen ships.
According to an update by Norwegian Cruise Line, the ships suspended include Norwegian Sky – February 25, Pride of America – February 26, Norwegian Jade – March 3, Norwegian Star – March 19, Norwegian Sun – April 19, and the Norwegian Spirit – April 23, 2022.
Two of the company’s cruises, Norwegian Pearl set for departure on January 3 and the Norwegian Getaway set for a January 5 departure, were both canceled.
Four of those eight affected cruises were set to dock at Mahahual, a town that relies heavily on the cruise ship segment.
Royal Caribbean has also announced cancellations of four cruises, two of which, were set to dock on the island of Cozumel in 2022. Those cruises were also canceled due to covid-related circumstances.
