New public transport company for Playa del Carmen in the works

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — The possibility of a new public transport company for Playa del Carmen is in the works. Cecilio Puc Sansores, president of the Transportation Commission said that a call for a new company will be made in coming months.

He said the new company could be a replacement or an addition to the existing company, Tusca, who currently offers the public transport service. He said the new call is being made to have units that offer quality services which includes vehicles that are in accordance with current modernity.

Sansores also noted that Playa del Carmen lacks a concession transport service. Currently, the city has Tucsa, a company that inherited the service years ago when Solidaridad separated from Cozumel.

Technically, the company is supposed to obtain a special permit every three years to continue operating. Sansores did not specify if the city has made contact with other companies to provide the service throughout Playa del Carmen.
