New Mahahual-Tulum combi route connects Costa Maya with Riviera Maya

Mahahual, Q.R. — Costa Maya is now officially connected with Riviera Maya with the initiation of a new public transport route. Collective vans or combis, now provide a new Mahahual-Tulum public service route.

The new service, which began running Tuesday, will operate seven days a week. The vans used are jointly managed by the taxi drivers unions of Mahahual and Tulum, with departures from the terminals of both associations.

During the initiation ceremony, Edgar Villegas Centeno, general secretary of the Mahahual Taxi Drivers Union, thanked his Tulum counterparts, who helped to make the project possible.

Centeno says to start, departures will be daily only at 3:30 p.m., but will grow with user demand. The cost of the ticket is 200 peso. Due to the current state light, units will circulate at a 50 capacity or seven passengers.
