Mexico City, Mexico — Mexico’s Secretary of Tourism says a new headquarters is being sought for the 2024 Tourist Tianguis. The upcoming tourist fair was set to be hosted by Acapulco in the state of Guerrero.
The Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, Miguel Torruco Marqués, and the Governor of Guerrero, Evelyn Salgado Pineda, agreed that given the situation after the passage of Hurricane Otis, it is necessary to look for a new headquarters for the Tianguis Turístico México 2024.
Given the situation in the Port of Acapulco, a new venue for the March 2024 tourist fair must be found since it is unlikely that the city will be fully recovered by that time.
The Ministry of Tourism of the Government of Mexico will establish the bases to define what the new headquarters will be and will convene.
Torruco Marqués says the Mexico Tourism Tianguis is the main event of the sector, in which the 32 federal states, tour operators, travel agents, hoteliers, airlines and tourism service providers participate, as well as national and international buyers, all who are part of the great value chain of the tourism industry.
Torruco Marqués recalled that during the pandemic in 2020, while other countries canceled their main tourism fairs, Mexico innovated with the Digital Tourist Tianguis, which had two successful editions.
Guerrero Governor Evelyn Salgado Pineda indicated that the governments are working to recover the Port of Acapulco and assured that the destination will soon be ready, reborn, strengthened and beautiful, and again, with the Tianguis Turístico México in place, which saw the birth of the most important event in the tourism industry of the country.
