Riviera Maya, Q.R. — Nearly 280,000 tourists are currently vacationing in the state for the holiday season. According to the latest report by the Ministry of Tourism of Quintana Roo, there are 279,998 tourists in the state.
In their latest report, the agency detailed Cancun as the leading destination with hotel occupancy rates at 84.5 percent followed by Cozumel, with 82.1 percent. Hotels in Riviera Maya were also busy, averaging 79.2 percent occupancy rates, while Isla Mujeres reported 72 percent and Costa Maya, 46.9 percent.
Hot sunny days have resulted in busy beaches and shopping areas around the state of Quintana Roo. For this reason, additional security was added to nearly every destination to ensure the safety of all visitors.
