Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Q.R. — The ejidal commissioner of the town of X Hazil Sur and Anexos Mario Uicab Chan, reported that nearly 200 hectares of jungle has been affected by the fire, which despite efforts, continues to burn.
Uicab Chan says strong winds continue to help fuel the fire, which began 15 days ago.
“We need support so that this forest fire, which has severely affected the land, can be put out,” he said adding that they do not know where or how it started. He says they have formed brigades to enter the worst hit areas, but the fire continues to burn and to date, has consumed between 180 and 200 hectares.
