Navy rescues four stranded on Bacalar’s Laguna Mariscal

Bacalar, Q.R. —  Four crew members sailing Laguna Mariscal in Bacalar were rescued Sunday after losing power. The two men and two women requested help from the Port Captaincy of Chetumal after their engine failed, leaving them stranded.

The four on board vessel Los Amigos were located by elements of the Seventeenth Naval Zone of the Navy in response to their request for assistance.

The call for help was received by the Port Captaincy of Chetumal during a surveillance tour of the Bacalar lagoon. In coordination with the Naval Station for Search, Rescue and Maritime Surveillance, personnel set out in search of Los Amigos.

Once located, naval personnel transferred the crew and their boat to a Bacalar dock and confirmed that the rescued people were in good health.
