Isla Mujeres, Q. R. — The Ministry of the Navy of Mexico reports the rescue of a woman seen drowning near Puerto Juárez on mainland Isla Mujeres.
The navy reports the rescue during a surveillance tour after personnel saw her drowning near Puerto Juárez. During their routine surveillance, they were able to successfully reach the woman and pull her from the water, transferring her to the pier of the Naval Station of Puerto Juárez.
At the pier, naval health and Red Cross personnel carried out a medical check-up before she boarded an ambulance for a local hospital.
Earlier this week, all beaches were closed and lifeguards removed due to the SARS-CoV-2 contingency.
