Navy locates tourist lost during harpoon diving in Playa del Carmen

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A tourist who went diving and became disorientated in Playa del Carmen waters Monday was located and brought to shore. Personnel of the navy were called in to help with the location and rescue of a man who had participated in harpoon diving.

Through a statement, the Secretary of the Navy said they received a call alerting them to a missing person in waters off Playa del Carmen. Cozumel navy personnel set out in search of the man, whom they successfully located.

The 30-year-old visitor was pulled onto their boat and transferred to the Sac-Tun Maritime terminal where he was briefly checked by health personnel before being released.
