Acapulco, Guerrero — Navy personnel seized a large shipment of narcotics near the Port of Acapulco. The drug bust of more than 1,500 kilos of cocaine was made by the Secretaría de Marina.
Elements from the Twelfth Naval Region based in Acapulco seized approximately 1,535 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride along with 5,700 liters of fuel, and two boats.
Part of their seizure included the arrests of five people.
During a maritime surveillance operation, naval personnel located a vessel with two outboard motors transporting 33 sacks of approximately 1,535 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride along with 23 drums with approximately 1,600 liters of fuel.
The vessel was located approximately 184 nautical miles (340 kilometers) southeast of the Port of Acapulco. During the operation, five people were arrested. The Secretaría de Marina did not say where the boat was from or provide the nationality of those arrested.
