Cancun, Q.R. — A traveler is facing charges after being arrested at Cancun International for failing to declare cash. The man was taken into custody over the weekend after a luggage X-ray revealed undeclared money.

National Guard officers detained the foreigner inside the Cancun International Airport after being found in possession of $35,000 US dollars.
Federal guards were carrying out security inspections for international flights at the Cancun International Airport where through “X” rays, “cash was seen inside the hand luggage of a man of Brazilian nationality,” said National Guard in a statement.
The Brizilan man was taken into custody for being found without the corresponding declaration for the money when entering Mexico.
Authorities said he was arrested and turned over to the Attorney General of the Republic (FGR), along with the cash, for further investigation.
Federal authorities did not provide information on the man’s final destination.
