Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — The municipality of Solidaridad is set to begin an 18.8 million peso project to add electricity to a residential area. On Tuesday, Mayor Lili Campos said the city of Playa del Carmen is extending municipal electricity to Cristo Rey.
She made the announcement after the start of resurfacing work along 115th Avenue. Campos said she has already held meetings with the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) who agreed to begin the underground wiring project.
Their part will cost 9.4 million peso. The municipality will contribute the other 9.4 million she said.
“A total of 18.8 million pesos will be invested for electricity in Cristo Rey, which will also see the introduction of drinking water and drainage work that will be carried out with Aguakan,” she added. After those projects are complete, the area’s roads will be paved.
She said the work is finally being done because now, the neighborhood is municipalized.
