Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — The municipality of Solidaridad has collected 16 percent more tax payments than anticipated. According to Pedro Escobedo Vázquez, Solidaridad Treasurer, the collection goals were exceeded during the first two months of the year.
He says the municipality has helped reduce the number of delinquent taxpayers by offering discounts for immediate payment and also by extending overdue dates for those who are behind.
“The number of collections has gone up in both January and February,” he said adding that tax payer money is used for public projects as well as municipal security.
