Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Municipal workers clearing highway vegetation located a bagged human body Thursday. The body was found approximately 500 meters from Police Checkpoint 1 along the southbound lane.
The group of workers were clearing overgrown vegetation with weed cutters around 7:00 a.m. when they made the finding. Personnel from the Secretariat of Citizen Security arrived to verify the report.
One black bag that contained human remains was found. The body inside was reported to be in an advanced state of decomposition and likely dumped in the location days before.
The Forensic Medical Service were requested for the removal of the remains. Authorities have not said if the body found was male or female.
