Municipal officers capture 14 year old in PDC shooting

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A 14 year old boy has been arrested by Solidaridad police after allegedly shooting someone. The shooting happened Tuesday night outside a bar in the Ejido neighborhood in west Playa del Carmen.

The youth was tracked down by police after fleeing the scene on a motorcycle. He was captured and taken into custody on Calle 4 Norte during a police search operation.

According to an official SSC (Seguridad Ciudadana Solidaridad) statement, the young man, identified only as E. “N” due to his age, was seen by the officers responding to a report of gunfire, holding a gun directed toward a person laying on the ground.

When the young gunman saw police, he fled on a motorcycle but was captured and arrested. The person laying on the ground was transferred to hospital by ambulance with a bullet wound to his left leg.

In their statement, the SSC reported “in a quick action, the Municipal Police of Solidaridad arrested a subject accused of injuring a person with a firearm outside a bar in the Ejido neighborhood.

“Preventive Police officers patrolling on Juarez Avenue received a report of gunshots, so they approached the place where they observed a subject holding what appeared to be a firearm in the direction of a person who was lying on the ground.

“Upon noticing the police presence, the subject fled on a motorcycle with a passenger, however, after a search operation, he was located on Calle 4 Norte and identified himself as E. “N” 14 years old originally from Tabasco.

“The victim had a wound in the left leg, so he was taken by ambulance to the hospital. The detainee was placed at the disposal of the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for the Investigation of Crimes Committed by Adolescents.”
