Bacalar, Q.R. — A taxi driver and his female passenger were treated for injuries Friday after a two vehicle crash. People who witnessed the accident stopped to help the injured until medical personnel arrived.
The accident happened around 5:00 p.m. near Bacalar when the driver of a truck is alleged to have lost control, causing both his vehicle and the taxi to swerve to avoid hitting one another.
The truck ended up driving over the highway’s central median and into the opposite lane. The Chetumal taxi, in a bid to avoid the black truck, was found crashed in the ditch with substantial damage.
Motorists stopped and stayed with the injured, using pieces of cardboard to shade them from the hot sun, until emergency services arrived. There were no reports of serious injuries in the two vehicle accident.
