Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — The municipality of Solidaridad has put its modernized technology to use with the finding of a stolen vehicle. A new pickup truck was identified as being stolen in Playa del Carmen traffic with the use of license plate identification technology.
On Tuesday, the Secretary of Citizen Security (SSC) reported on the arrest of a female driver found behind the wheel of the stolen truck after being intercepted by Transit authorities.
The driver, 34-year-old Maribel “N” from Chiapas, was taken into custody after the municipal technology flagged the vehicle for having an outstanding robbery report.
In a notice, the SSC (Seguridad Ciudadana Solidaridad) said “the Municipal Police of Solidaridad secured a woman and recovered a vehicle with a theft report located through surveillance cameras with license plate identification technology.
“The Ford brand vehicle, Lobo model, was intercepted by Traffic Police on South 39th Street and Playa del Carmen Boulevard in the Ejido neighborhood after being identified by surveillance cameras, and upon checking the system, officers confirmed that the license plates were overlapped and with a theft report.
“The 34-year-old driver, Maribel “N”, originally from Chiapas, was secured and placed at the disposal of the State Attorney General’s Office for legal responsibilities.”
