Riviera Maya, Q.R. — The Ministry of the Interior (Segob) has appointed a new leader for the National Migration Institute (INM) of Quintana Roo. Rafael Martínez Ruiz was appointed Friday as the new head of the Instituto Nacional de Migración (INM) where was an acting head following the resignation of Carlos Manuel Bandala González on August 19.
Rafael Martínez Ruiz was appointed to represent the INM Office in Quintana Roo.
Martínez Ruiz served as Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection of Tulum between October 2022 and March 2023. He later joined the Attorney General’s Office (FGE) of the State of Quintana Roo, where he held the position of specialized prosecutor in Combating Vehicle and Transportation Theft.
In 2019, he served as Director of Internal Inspection for the Chihuahua State Prosecutor’s Office for Control, Analysis, and Evaluation.
His arrival at the INM comes amid a period of changes in state representation and after public accusations related to alleged irregularities attributed to immigration personnel.
In response to public allegations of irregularities with the sudden departure of Carlos Manuel Bandala González on August 19, the INM claimed the change of head was due to an ordinary rotation processes.
