Military foot patrol stumbles upon 20 cocaine bricks in Bacalar

Bacalar, Q.R. — The ongoing strong winds along the Yucatan Peninsula have pushed more than just seaweed ashore. On Thursday, military personnel collected 20 kilos of cocaine off a beach in Bacalar.

Military personnel from the 34th Military Zone located a total of 20 bricks of wrapped cocaine in the municipality of Bacalar’s coastal area of Tampalam. The packages of narcotics were found Thursday morning during foot surveillance tours.

The 20 kilos of cocaine was collected and turned over to the State Attorney General’s Office.
