Military finds 4.5 tons of marijuana on furniture truck

Victoria de Durango, Durango — A shipment of 4.5 tons of marijuana has been seized by elements of the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena) in the state of Durango.

The agency reports that Mexican Army personnel assigned to the Tenth Military Zone in the caiptial city of Victoria de Durango carried out a routine check on a truck that was transporting furniture from Mazatlán, Sinaloa, bound for Reynosa, Tamaulipas.

Upon inspection, police did find furniture, however, behind that they discovered a wall of marijuana. Inside the cargo area they found 900 wrapped packages of approximately 4,500 kilos of marijuana.

The drugs and truck were seized. The driver was made available to Federal Public Ministry authorities.
