Mexico City fog affects 23 Cancun flights

Cancun, Q.R. — A fog bank that rolled into Mexico City Sunday caused the delay of more than 20 flights to and from the city of Cancun.

The fog bank at the Mexico City International Airport (AICM) ended up affecting 23 operations to and from Cancun Sunday before finally lifting. The Cancun International Airport reported the closure of the AICM, which caused the cancellation and delay of numerous Mexico-Cancun-Mexico flights.

According to information provided by Southeast Airports (Asur), the fog remained a problem for nearly four hours, with flights from Interjet, Aeroméxico, Magnicharters, VivaAerobus and Volaris being stalled between 9:49 a.m. and 13:50 hours.

Once the fog finally lifted, airport operations were able to carry on normally.
