Mexican Navy personnel carry out at sea rescue of injured falcon

Manzanillo Colima — Members of Mexico’s Navy in Manzanillo carried out the sea rescue of an injured falcon. The bird was located floating in the open sea in the port of Manzanillo.

With assistance from Profepa, personnel belonging to the Tenth Naval Region carried out the rescue of a peregrine falcon that was injured and floating. Upon reaching the bird, it was found dehydrated and with a head injury.

The bird was returned to land and eventually delivered to the Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection (Profepa) who transferred it to the Wildlife Management Unit to receive specialized care.

In Mexico, the peregrine falcon is in the Official Mexican Standard NOM-059-SEMARNAT-2010 and subject to special protection.
