Merida boy identifies father’s killers after witnessing murder

Merida, Q.R. — Yucatan state police have detained four people for the murder of an elderly night watchman. The two men and two women were taken into custody shortly after the Thursday night murder, which happened in the northern area of the city.

According to the Ministry of Public Security of Yucatán, an adolescent son of the victim witnessed the murder. He remained hidden and called Emergency 911 after the four left.

Area checkpoints were placed immediately by police, who were successful in locating the four. Police say the two men are from the state of Michoacán and two women, from Baja California.

Arrested were 37-year-old Camerino N, 31-year-old José N, 29-year-old Susana Virginia N and 27-year-old María Dolores N. According to the son’s statement, his father was fatally wounded with a machete. He has since identified the four as his father’s killers.
