Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Police were called to a central Playa del Carmen grocery store Friday after a man collapsed inside. The man, aged at around 40, is reported to have died of a heart attack while inside the 30th Avenue supermarket.

Customers who saw the man collapse called emergency services to request an ambulance. Medical personnel from Civil Protection responded to the calls and performed CPR. Despite their efforts, the man remained unresponsive and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Municipal Police officers arrived to secure the area and temporarily closed access to the supermarket while they waited for the forensic medical team. The man has only been identified as a Mexican national.
