Mayor working with Aguakan on Playa del Carmen water shortage

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Over the duration of the recent long weekend, more than 120 reports of water failures were made in and around Playa del Carmen. Mayor Lili Campos confirmed the complaints and the water failures, which she noted, were in Villamar 1, Villamar II, Galaxia II, Cataluña, Ejido Sur, Xcalacoco, Colosio, Bosque Real and the town of Puerto Aventuras.

She said in turn, the complaints were turned over to Aguakan who is managing solutions to the water shortage problem. She said that a reimbursement could possibly be made to those who were serviced by portable water trucks due to the water failures.

Campos said that part of their solution will be to add another five wells in the Ejido area to improve both pressure and supply, noting that she remains attentive to the situation.

The head of Solidaridad Public Works, Teresita Flota Alcocer said that they toured 24 of the wells a week ago to ensure their maintenance and that the addition of another five should resolve the problem.
