Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Playa del Carmen’s iconic city park is nearing 90 percent completion says mayor Laura Beristain. In an update regarding Parque Los Fundadores, she reported the remodeling project to be 90 percent done with finishing touches left.
Beristain said once completely finished, the park will be a renovated public space and a meeting point for locals and tourists. Solidaridad City Council have been personally supervising the progress of the work, which is complemented by the rehabilitation of the city’s emblematic Fifth Avenue and surrounding streets.
The director of Infrastructure and Public Works, José Luis Castillejos, explained that they are currently working on the last details of masonry and finishes. Once complete, he says the park will have a more radiant image.
As for the kiosk area, which is also being remodeled, Luis Castillejos says it is nearing 60 percent completion with the gardening work being started next week. He says that new pots are almost ready and that the 150 Chit Palms that were removed, will be replanted. For the promenade, the city already has the final pieces which are being installed. Landscaping will begin at the end of next week.
