Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Playa del Carmen Mayor Lili Campos says the municipality will have it’s own C2 Command Centre. Campos said the project is being worked on by the federal, state and municipal governments to restore peace, adding that they have started increasing security in the police filters.
“They are about to start work on what will be the Control Center that will serve as a mirror of the C5 in Cancun. In this last quarter, the construction of filters will start at the entrances of Cancun, Merida and Tulum, which will have facial recognition detector arches and plates,” she explained.
Campos said that the municipality of Solidaridad ranks 48th out of the top 50 spots in the country for high crime rates.
“We had 20 patrols when we arrived. Today we have more than 300 and more than 500 officers. This week, there will be another graduation of officers that will be added and with them, we would be reaching close to 960,” she said.
Campos also added that the city intends to add more surveillance cameras in the tourist area and install others for the first time in the heavily populated areas such as Villas del Sol.
