Cancun, Q.R. — Cancun Mayor Ana Paty Peralta says Cancun is ready to welcome its holiday tourists. She says thousands of tourists will be staying during the second half of December and into the first half of January.

According to reservations, the city has a projected hotel occupancy rate of 81 percent for the holidays.
Mayor Peralta says Cancun continues to position itself as one of the preferred destinations for travelers for its beautiful beaches and white sand.
She says this year, the city of Cancun has accumulated 11 Blue Flag awards, eight Platinum Beach awards and two Sustainable Clean Beach awards, positioning itself as leader in beach preservation.

To further strengthen tourism this season, Peralta says Cancun will have events for the whole family including a traditional Christmas village at Malecón Tajamar. The village opens December 16 and will remain open until January 7.
The city of Cancun will also host New Year’s celebrations, also at the city’s waterside Malecón Tajamar. Both the Christmas village and New Year celebrations are free to the public.
Mayor Peralta says as one of the gateways to tourism in Mexico, the Cancun International Airport maintains connectivity with 134 destinations in 31 countries. Of those, Cancun is connected to 67 cities across North America, 14 in Latin America, 30 in Europe and 23 within Mexico.

She says the city of Cancun continues to diversify tourism offers with not only beach attractions, but also in conference, medical, romance, business and social tourism, always highlighting the quality and warmth of the people of Cancun.
