Cozumel, Q.R. — Over the course of the week, 11 ships docked at the island of Cozumel, four of which, arrived on the same day. The island’s mayor said the arrival of the ships signifies the official reestablishment of the island’s tourism sector. On Thursday alone, four cruise ships were docked while thousands disembarked for a day of island touring.
Cozumel’s mayor Pedro Joaquín Delbouis said two vessels, Divina and Carnival Dream, had arrived for the first time since the pandemic. Carnival Dream docked at Puerta Maya with 2,300 passengers.
“The arrival of new Carnival vessels is a sign of the confidence of companies and tourists that Cozumel is a safe destination. Thanks to that trust, we continue with the economic recovery and the generation of employment for the community,” he said.
In addition to the MSC Divina and the Carnival Dream, the Odyssey of the Seas and the Carnival Vista also docked Thursday. Joaquin reported that during the past week, 11 cruise ships have docked at the island.
