Holbox, Q.R. — Only material damage was reported in an early morning fire on the island of Holbox. On Tuesday, firemen were sent to extinguish a building fire on Gerónimo de Aguilar Street.
A warehouse seen emanating smoke and the start of flames was reported to authorities. Firemen were quick to arrive and control the situation, extinguishing flames and removing combustible material from the scene.
Civil Protection personnel also arrived to begin a review to determine a cause for the fire. The director of Municipal Civil Protection, Alejandro de Jesús Erosa Betancourt, reported no injuries during the incident, only material damage.
He confirmed “firemen quelled an emission of smoke and fire in its incipient stage inside the warehouse area of the establishment.”
