Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A seven year old boy was pulled from the water Sunday by Marina lifeguards in central Playa del Carmen. The boy was at the shore with his parents when he was dragged out to deep water.
On duty Marina lifeguards were quick to jump into the sea and pull the boy back to shore. The incident happened off the beach of Parque Fundadores Sunday when the boy began to yell for help.
In a quick intervention, the two on duty lifeguards were able to reach they boy and get him out of the water and to his family, who were visibly upset. The child was not in need of medical intervention.
The entire Yucatan Peninsula has dealt with strong wind and gusts for the past several days due to unstable weather entering the region. Many beaches have been yellow or red-flagged, warning swimmers of the dangers of entering the water.
