Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A man who was shot Sunday evening in Playa del Carmen has died. The unnamed resident was shot numerous times while driving through the Nicte-Ha neighborhood.
A heavy police presence was the response to the 7:30 p.m. shooting Sunday which happened at the intersection of Montes de Oca Street and 15th Avenue. The man was found with several bullet wounds still inside his private vehicle.
He was transferred to Playa del Carmen hospital by ambulance in critical condition where he died around 2:00 a.m. Monday. Neighborhood witnesses were only able to tell police the bullets were fire from a motorcycle.
A search operation for that motorcycle left police empty handed.
